WHAT WAS MUST DIE - LIMBO
★★★★★★
WHAT WAS MUST DIE- LIMBO has become a sumptuous dance macabre - with the limbo as redeeming element, and a triumph of the very great for Uppercut Dance Theater.
- Michael Søby CPHCulture
LIMBO is the second part of Uppercut Dance Theater's trilogy WHAT WAS MUST DIE .
From innocent revelry to the abyss and the slaughterhouse: Most people probably know limbo as a party game to Chubby Checker's 'Limbo Rock', but in Uppercut Dance Theater's version the game has undertones of doom, despair and fear of death.
A performance that moves from innocent play to the realisation that we can lose ourselves. Buried deep in the sea, our inner pig fights its way free and faces up to uncertainty. For where do we go when we are no longer welcome in the community?
In LIMBO, the pig mashes his way hopefully and confusedly through his life's journey in the encompassing inferno. Here we witness the pig's struggle to avoid the slaughterhouse.
