PAS DE DIEU
PREMIERE 4. MARCH 2026
PAS DE DIEU
a co-production by Uppercut Dance Theater and fix+foxy
Two people collide in a battle for position, dignity and resources. About who is first choice and above the other. Who has the right to speak and when do the words stop and let the body shout the language of violence. In a wrestling match of friendship and love, they repeatedly try to be each other's equals, but there is always someone who is a little more than the other.
PAS DE DIEU is a couple dance of invitations and rejections where two people melt together only to be pushed apart again.
PAS DE DIEU premieres March 4, 2026 in Dansekapellet, and plays until March 14!

ABOUT THE SHOW
PAS DE DIEU is a play on the French term used to describe a dance for two. These are often iconic love dances in large-scale action ballets, but when Uppercut Dance Theater and fix+foxy join forces to create a new performance, it is with the desire to rethink both hate and love.
In PAS DE DIEU we explore what happens when a dancer and an actor meet in a duet. We wonder and admire how two men relate to each other in a world where they only have each other. Where friendship, love, violence and sex are given free rein to unfold through words and movement, in a constant interaction between brutality, tenderness, selfishness and care. Where two people are confronted with their inherent divinity and inevitable transience.
Experience dancer Mark Philip and actor Morten Burian, who together have about 50 years of experience as performing artists in their respective fields, when they meet under the direction of award-winning choreographer Stephanie Thomasen and playwright Tue Beiring, in a scenography created by Johan Kølkjær.
