DIFFERENCES
"There is an excess, a humour and
a community here that really
resonates with the audience"
Ungt Teaterblod
So alike - and yet so different
Whatsets us apart and what unites us? Est-ce la langue? The way we look? Eller vårt kön? O en lo que creemos
These are some of the questions that are explored in DIFFERENCES, when six dancers embrace the eternal questions of origin, identity and boundaries.
In a brand new 2020 version of the critically acclaimed performance, which premiered in 2012, we meet women and men with equal parts of raw power, vulnerability and humor. Indivuduals who do not share a mother tongue, but still find a common language in the body.
Prize winning choreographer Stephanie Thomasen acts as an interpreter and entices the dancers from Brazil, France, Denmark, Sweden, Chech Republic and England converse with each other.
With a knack of identifying differences and similarities, Stephanie Thomasen presents us with an integrated image of a world in turmoil. The dancers are clad in raw emotions, the clothes stick to the skin, the skin pulses with power, love and confrontations. DIFFERENCES premiered in 2012 with an all male cast. In October 2020, DIFFERENCES re-premiered in a mixed gender version, co-produced with the Dance Chapel, Copenhagen.
